Week 3: There's no place I'd rather be

Olá!!! Sister Melo reporting live from the one and only PROVO MTC!! And it's been a GREAT week, let me tell ya!

To start, we had a devotional on Tuesday and Elder Patrick Kearan of the presidency of the seventy and his wife spoke. They were AWESOME!! He's from England, so I could listen to his accent all day, he also looks and sounds like Bilbo  Baggins from the Hobbit. Can't think of his name to save my life, but anyways he's great. He talked about joy and told us to Look like our message, which truly is JOY! It was so awesome.

Haha here's a funny story: A week and a half ago I was shaving and I accidentally cut my ankle and it bled for 3 days and pussed for another five, so finally, after it got hard to walk and the area just looked and felt infected, we decided to go to the doctor to get it checked. I was hoping that they would just give me some tips on how to take care of it, but apparently it was much worse than I thought. They gave me a shot in my hip and it kind of hurt, not a fan of needles, and then they gave me some prescriptions to help with the infection. It's been much better, woot woot! Sure love a good ol' trip to the doc's.

The gift of tongues is real!! I was asked to say the prayer after class one day,  and I've said multiple memorized prayers in Portuguese, but this prayer, I actually knew what I was saying and it wasn't memorized! Ahh it felt so good!!

Here's another thing, God really does answer prayers. And here's why I say that. Yesterday was fast Sunday, and we were asked to fast with a question on our mind. My question had to do with the priesthood and with women. It's always been pretty unclear to me what a woman's role is in the priesthood and I felt like I really needed an answer so I could help other women during my mission understand what their role is concerning the priesthood. So I started my morning with a prayer unexplained to Heavenly Father my concerns on the matter. I kid you not, within the first two hours of the day, my question was answered, and in full. That day in Relief Society, we talked about laws and ordinances, which all hinge on the priesthood. We talked about the women's role with the priesthood and how if the Lord needed his women to hold the priesthood on the Earth, then he wouldn't just leave us hanging. We have what we need to get back to him, and we have the priesthood on the Earth, and women have a responsibility, a priesthood responsibilities. We are asked to minister to those around us and to serve others and to love others, women truly have a special capacity to love those around them. So as you can imagine, my heart was softened and I learned a great deal of things I truly wanted to know. God is good at answering questions, and He loves doing it! All He asks is that you seek, with pure intent and with faith in Jesus Christ.

A quick last note, our district has way too much fun. We have started characterizing each other in a variety of ways, like what animal we'd be, Disney princess, sea animal, vegetable, and song. Mine were the following: A mongoose (small, but fierce, as they put it), Jane from Tarzan, a cucumber, a dolphin, and Freak Show by Ingrid Michaelson (I gave myself that one don't worry.) It's a blast, and we plan to keep it going!

Well that's all folks!! DON'T FORGET TO WISH MY DEAR SISTER ELLE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIS WEDNESDAY!!! Give get a big hug for me will ya??

Love,
Sister Melo
