WEEK WON!!!! I mean WEEK ONE!!!!!

Hello everyone!! Wow it was been one interesting week! I put WEEK WON because my awesome companion, Sister Anderson, and I totally conquered our first week in the MTC. Like seriously, people were telling me on my first day that it was going to be the hardest and worst week ever,  so me being stubborn,  I just kind of thought, "Well, watch me have an awesome week." So my companion and I worked all week to have the best week ever and I think we actually did a pretty good job. My companion is a sweetheart by the way,  so that made things easy. So, WEEK ONE WON!!!

So...... the MTC is awesome,  I forgot how much I love to learn!! And it's subjects I'm actually interested in,  Portuguese and the Gospel of Jesus Christ!! The two most pure subjects I've ever learned in school haha, but really it's awesome. The language will come,  I've memorized a scripture, a basic prayer, and a short testimony,  but it's so cool to feel the gift of tongues actually working. And people I am not just saying that. Every prayer as a district, we always ask for the gift of tongues and we have already seen miracles happen because of it. SPEAKING OF MY DISTRICT!!!!! WOW I FLIPPIN LOVE ALL OF THEM!!!!!! Ok, so there are 12 of us, 8 Elders and 4 Sisters, and we rock. Also, I'm working on humility, sorry, but I just have to brag, WE HAVE THE BEST DISTRICT!! We are all speaking Portuguese, some are speaking Brazilian, and others are speaking Continental. But we have missionaries going to Cape Verde, Sao Paulo Brazil East Mission, Maceio Brazil, Mozambique, New Hampshire, Angola, Florida, and Portugal!!! Isn't that awesome?! Also, our district leader, Elder Ernstberger, is from Canada and ooh ooh here's a funny story: So he has like these mini Canada pins, like a ton of them, and he's going to give everyone in our district a pin so that when people ask where we're going, we can say, "Ayy we're going to Canada, Portuguese speaking!! Cool right?!" I think it's hilarious. Anyway, love the district, love the language, sort of can handle the food, love the MTC, love the Spirit, love the Gospel, and really really love our Savior. I have studied more about him in the last 5 days than I ever did in five years and have loved every minute of becoming closer to him. It's amazing what you can learn about someone as you become closer to them and learn to trust them.

Just some spiritual food for your day. I was reading in D&C 6:32-37(which you should seriously take 10 seconds out of your day and read it because it's awesome), and the phrase that stuck out was, "Fear not to do good." I was kind of having a hard time at that point in the day when I read it, but after reading it, I decided, "Well the Lord's right! Fear not to serve someone, fear not to love someone or make someone's bed or leave a little note for someone, FEAR NOT! What's the worst that could happen?" So, even on the challenging days, fear not to do good, and especially fear not to BE HAPPY! That was another thought I had this week: If we choose to be happy, we will be. I know, it's so simple it's almost stupid, but I have really come to know this truth these last five days. So, I daresay, TRY! I think you'll love the result ;)

Anyway, there truly is no place I'd rather be. I'm so excited to do this for the next 18 awesome months of my life! Thank you for everything, your prayers, your support, all of it! I LOVE YOU!!!

Love Sister Melo
