Week 14: Through the Fire and the Flames.......of the Spirit!!

Let's get right to it, I bet you're just on the edge of your seats haha

Transfers:
Well if that word doesn't directly translate to, "Hectic, 100% unpredictable, hold onto your hats ladies and gents," I might be a little upset because WOW, they are exactly that and more! But long story short, Sister Fialho was transferred to Praia to train my old companion from the MTC Sister Anderson!!!! AHHH!! And my new companion is.....drumroll.....SISTER DILLE!!!! She is an angel from good ol' Arizona and she is in her 3rd transfer and is finishing my training, bless her heart!! I think there are very few missionaries who can do that and Sister Dille is IT!! She is the cutest and already I know we are about to take São Vicente by storm!!

The Area:
Well I sounded confident, but in reality, now I'm taking care of this area all by myself and I'm terrified. I have to make all the plans and make sure I know who everyone is, where everyone lives, etc. And it's pretty hard when addresses don't exist, or last names really. But hey, we get what we get! And really, it will be good, we're so ready to leave our hearts and heels on the dance floor of Chã D' Marinha and give this area everything we have! We know that through the Lord, we truly can do all things, even to the extent of understanding the INSANE Kriol. Man Kriol, what a funny language.

Funny:
Haha lots of funny little things happened. One was Sister Dille and I had to change our tank of gas for our stove and oven and ended up having to carry a very heavy tank of gas about a mile all the way home. It was hilarious, and the next day we found a place that had gas tanks about 3 minutes away from our house. Oh what a blessing, at least we know for next time haha. Also, almost got demolished by dogs the other day. I was just walking and minding my business when this group of like 5 dogs suddenly started running and barking right at me and the only thing I could do was just freeze and close my eyes and hope. And hope worked because just suddenly, inches away from me, they stopped dead in their tracks. And didn't kill me. That was crazy, and I think angels are a little bit WAY real!

Miracles:
First of all, my comp is a miracle. It's so good to have someone just so excited for the work and ready to do anything, especially with me leading this area. We depend on the  Lord so much in every lesson because our Portuguese and understanding of the language is still very premature, but the Lord has carried us the whole way. We have surprise contacts and run-ins with people every single day. He is so merciful and truly is helping us and this area and these sweet people here to grow together. And the gift of tongues is real, sooo real. And the Lord is so good.

I wish I had more time, but I love you all!! Wish us luck, we need it, but we're so excited to be going on this adventure together!!!
Love,
Sister Melo
